Low Poly Island: Wisconsin Lakefront

I made this island based on my family’s lake house in Wisconsin, or rather our backyard leading to the lake. The thing that really sold the design for me was the water material that I used for the lake, I think that really helped the design look complete. I used my memory of the lakefront, this picture from Zillow, and Google Streetview to make the design accurate to the original. The hardest part of the project was scale. I used a figure as a reference point for scale because even though I wasn’t concerned with the scale being perfectly accurate, I wanted it to make logical sense. Once I figured out the correct size of the figure and the scale of the dock, everything else was easy to figure out scale wise. I removed the figure from the final render because I didn’t actually want it as part of the design. I also included a light element in the final turnaround because it made the water reflection pop and made the colors more vibrant.
