Amnesty Title Sequence
Creative Brief
For this project, I wanted to create a title sequence for my favorite podcast, The Adventure Zone (TAZ). TAZ is a Dungeons and Dragons podcast hosted by the McElroy family, and for my title sequence, I would specifically like to focus on The Adventure Zone: Amnesty, which tells the story of three monster hunters in Kepler, West Virginia. Because the show is a podcast rather than a TV program or movie, there is no official title sequence in existence. The show does however have a theme song that is played at the beginning and end of each episode, and I will be using that as the basis for my project.
I want the title sequence to be focused on the setting of Kepler and the monsters that live within it. I want the sequence to be intriguing and mysterious. Above are the colors I plan on using for the sequence, inspired by one of the key pieces of imagery in the show—the Pinegaurd patch.

I’m inspired by the opening sequence of Tintin and how they animate flat colored dynamic scenes. Most of this sequence is more complex than I am able to do in the timeframe, but it does serve as a good inspiration. I am also inspired by this fan-made opening sequence for The Adventure Zone: Balance. Again, the scenes are more intricate than I have time to animate, but I am mainly inspired by the transitions between scenes and how they make mostly static images appear very dynamic.
This is the most complex motion graphic composition I’ve ever created and so the process of planning out the assets and transitions took several hours. I listened to the Amnesty theme bit by bit many times to figure out the exact beats of the piece, which are labeled with time stamps on the boards.
