Calvin Logan

Hi there!

My name is Calvin, I’m an artist, designer, and all-around fun-haver finishing up my Bachelors of Science in Creative Technology and Design at The University of Colorado Boulder. My interest in the arts began at a very young age when I fell in love with drawing and painting, and then later in life, theatre, singing, and writing. My passion for the visual arts flourished as I entered college and discovered illustration, graphic design, and creative computing. Nowadays I combine my love for the tactility and texture of traditional art, with my interest in the ever-growing digital mediascape to create dynamic story-driven compositions. I am intentional about nurturing my creativity with an ever-present wonder and unrestrained enthusiasm for the world around me and gather my inspirations from thrift stores, video games, public transportation, Dungeon’s and Dragons, stuffed animals, and comedy podcasts. I currently reside in Boulder, Colorado where I live an energetic and joy-filled life with my partner, three cats, and tortoise. 

Artist Statement

The ability to create worlds filled with life is a delicate kind of sorcery that I strive towards in my work, each piece its own fragments of future imaginary friends. Through character and environment creation with both traditional and digital media, I create pieces that narrate my own journey to discover creativity while also battling mental and physical illness. As a queer, disabled individual I am driven to bringing lesser told stories to light in a meaningful and accessible way.

  I garner my inspiration from a combination of personal experience, storybook motifs, Irish and Scandinavian folklore, and pop culture including animation, actual play podcasts, and indie games. Through this process, I find both catharsis and further inspiration to explore my own inner world with childlike wonder. I look forwards to bringing this evolving expertise to a group of creatives who inspire genuine growth in one another as professional artists and curious souls.
